Ranchero Wind Farm

300 MW | Crockett County, Texas | COD October 2019

About Ranchero:

Ranchero is a 300 MW wind project in Crockett County, Texas, that produces enough clean energy to power the equivalent of 177,000 homes’ annual energy usage. The project will continue to support the local community in Indiana through the generation of significant annual tax revenue.

Ranchero connects to the ERCOT market through a 345 kV, 300-yard gen-tie line and sells energy into the ERCOT market. Scout manages the operation and maintenance of the project and provides all commercial oversight for the project.

Community Impacts:

Tax Revenue

Ranchero will put approximately 57 million dollars back into the Crockett County community over its 30-year lifespan.

Shannon Hospital Trust

The Ranchero wind project is built on the Shannon Estate in Crockett County, a piece of land dedicated to establishing a hospital by its owners, John Moore Shannon and Margaret Shannon. They established a trust intended to be applied toward the construction, upkeep, and maintenance of the Hospital, and represents 250 providers and 3300 associates today.

Small Town, Big Wind

Even though Ranchero covers 23,000 acres, it has the smallest number of landowners for a single Scout project at only six landowners. This smaller conglomerate of landowners allows for stronger community-led initiatives and stronger rapport between landowners and Scout.
