Scout on the Ground: Community Engagement Roundup 2025

At Scout, we value those who live and work in our project communities. Every one of our projects lives somewhere, and we strive to give back to our communities beyond tax revenue and job creation. In 2025, we sponsored many causes and organizations in our project communities, including fire departments, 4-H groups, livestock shows, and local festivals, and drove meaningful change through engaging with our project communities. We’ve highlighted a few of the ways our team has supported local organizations and communities this year.

Championing Local Agriculture

Farmers and ranchers are the backbone of communities across the country, including many of our project communities. We strive to support their industries through our contributions and involvement, working with many FFA and 4-H groups across our development portfolio.

In Northeast Colorado’s Yuma County, a region with many thriving agricultural programs, Scout made an $8,000 contribution to the Golden Plains Area 4-H Program this. In addition to financially supporting the program, which has over 50 years of work in the area, Scout also participated in the organization’s annual auction. After successfully buying four animals in the auction, we donated them to local food pantries.

Golden Plain’s 4-H is one of the many local chapters Scout supports in our project communities, and we thank all the organizations across the country working to provide local youth opportunities to build leadership skills and learn more about agriculture, STEM, healthy living, and civic engagement.

Investing in Community Traditions

In addition to 4-H auctions, Scout supports and participates in the many local rodeo and fair events in our project communities, often some of the biggest local events of each year.

In Kennewick, Washington – near our Horse Heaven Clean Energy Center – Scout sponsored this year’s River of Fire Fireworks event, the community’s annual 4th of July celebration featuring live entertainment, food, games, and a fireworks show along the Columbia River. This summer, we were the Rodeo Bucking Chute Sponsor for the second time at the Horse Heaven Round-Up rodeo, one of the largest events held in the region with over 120,000 attendees annually. Stacked with some of the best rodeo athletes in the world, Horse Heaven Round-Up has been a pillar of rodeo tradition since 1949, making it one of the longest-running PRCA rodeos in the Pacific Northwest. Events like these across the country bring communities together and raise money for local organizations and businesses. We always look forward to supporting a local rodeo or county fair, especially when we get to watch some bull riding!

Building Stronger Communities

We’re dedicated to supporting our project community needs at every level – including improving access to food through local pantry partnerships across our portfolio.

We are a proud sponsor of many food pantries, including the Little Free Pantry in Illinois. This fall in Illinois, our team took to the roads of Macoupin and Madison counties to celebrate the fall harvest and honor the community by providing meals right to community members’ front doors. From combines in corn fields to landowners’ doorsteps, a team of 6 delivered over 150 lunches catered by local restaurant Bakers & Hale. We also partnered with the Illinois Valley Food Pantry and hosted a food drive out of our project office throughout the month of November to support the community and help provide meals for those who may not have access to them during the holiday season.

At Scout, our legacy depends on strengthening the communities where our projects live. From 4-H auctions to county fairs to delivering food to farmers and community members, we will continue to build and expand our partnerships and support local communities and organizations to build both strong relationships and lasting positive impact alongside our renewable energy projects.
