Mexican Free-Tailed Bat Conservation
Scout worked with the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation to develop a comprehensive bird and bat conservation strategy during the development of Persimmon Creek, focusing specifically on the Mexican Free-Tailed Bat, labeled a “Species of Greatest Conservation Need” and recognized as the official state flying mammal of Oklahoma. Scout used wildlife-compatible fencing and infrastructure to minimize the project’s impacts to all avian and bat species and committed to an adaptive management asset management approach to protect at-risk avian species.
