Project Manager

Project Manager

The Project Manager will oversee the development of multiple wind energy projects throughout the United States. This individual will report to the Director of Development.  Scout’s scope of work involves site identification, wind resource assessment, landowner and community relations, permitting, environmental studies, interconnection, offtake and construction planning.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for development activities in early and mid-stage projects
  • Ensure timely development of projects and meeting all project milestones
  • Implementation of long-term company strategy and initiatives as they pertain to the development of wind projects
  • Represent Scout with customers, landowners, federal, state and local officials and other stakeholders
  • Drive complex negotiations and create solutions to project specific problems and challenges
  • Take lead role in obtaining local, state and/or federal permits
  • Manage consultants and external parties
  • Manage project budgeting and scheduling
  • Significant travel as needed

Qualifications

  • A BS or BA from an accredited college program
  • 2+ years of wind development or equivalent experience
  • Considerable experience managing the development and strategic process for wind energy projects
  • Self-motivator with exceptional leadership, organizational and communication skills
  • Establish organizational goals, objectives, and operating procedures in line with the overall business plans and objectives
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties
  • Google Earth, Excel, Powerpoint, Word proficiency

General Counsel

General Counsel

The General Counsel will lead the company’s legal strategy in all aspects of wind energy development and operations.  This position will also support the company’s compliance program and Board reporting and documentation.  The General Counsel will also support negotiations, drafting, and critical review of agreements documenting transactions involving the sale of power, acquisition of project assets, companies and environmental attributes, and related transactions for wind power generating assets owned by Scout.  The General Counsel will also manage third party legal services to improve efficiency and reduce the cost of supporting transactions, litigation, permitting, due diligence, and other legal activities.

Responsibilities

  • ​Draft, edit, and manage miscellaneous legal agreements supporting project development, financing, and operations.
  • Manage due diligence process for acquisitions and in preparation for financing.
  • Support negotiations, drafting and critical review of real estate documents. Manage local counsel in support of real estate transactions.
  • Support the negotiation, drafting and critical review of financing agreements, including debt and tax equity financing agreements.
  • Support the negotiation, drafting and critical review of procurement and construction agreements.
  • Support project development, operations and maintenance and asset management businesses of company by providing legal counsel and advice in the normal course of business.
  • Prepare consulting services agreements, master services agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Manage outside legal counsel engaged to represent Scout.

Qualifications

  • ​JD from accredited Law school.
  • Bar from one or more U.S. state bars.
  • At least 3 years of corporate/real estate legal experience and prior experience in a law firm, government agency, or in-house legal department required. (Prior experience in renewable energy sector- preferred but not required).
  • Excellent commercial drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on a variety of legal matters.
  • Desire to learn about the wind energy business.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage a variety of assignments, work quickly and effectively under pressure and to prioritize activities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Some travel will be required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Senior Originator

Responsibilities

  • Build a network and form relationships with potential off-takers including regulated utilities, cooperatives, municipal utilities, government agencies, and direct customers
  • Manage relationships with professional list of customers with the intention of obtaining long-term contracts
  • Evaluate market information, identify target customers and opportunity types, and establish innovative outreach strategies in order to secure customer contracts
  • Identify client needs, engaging key influencers and decision makers, develop solutions, and lead proposals, deal structuring and commercial negotiations with potential customers
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to deliver advisory solutions to potential clients, win business and close deals
  • Monitor ongoing market trends in the electricity and specifically renewable electricity markets
  • Develop strategic plans, proposals, budgets/pricing, and presentations for use in client interactions
  • Participate in  conferences, trade groups, and industry associations

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant industry experience in commercial outreach and business development
  • Experience in the power sector and strong understanding of the energy markets, with proven experience leading the design and development of commercial strategies in the North American market
  • Experience with PPA transactions across multiple power markets, customers, and deal structure types
  • Strong professional network and an actionable contact list of decision makers and industry professionals
  • Thorough comprehension of deal origination and commercial transaction structuring
  • Strong passion and experience in renewable energy development
  • Ability to quickly and accurately run complex financial models
  • Strong organizational and people skills
  • Ability to quickly develop a deep understanding of engineering and renewable energy systems
  • Outstanding ability to close deals
