Electrical Engineer

 

The Electrical Engineer will support the development team in generation interconnections, transmission service and electrical engineering designs of multiple wind energy projects throughout the United States.

This individual will report to the Director of Development Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the generator interconnection process schedule: accomplishment of milestones and due date of deposits (refundable and no refundable)
  • Support interconnection requests: to meet technical and non-technical requirement
  • Review and report on electrical designs for collection system, project substations and gen-ties
  • Review and comment on interconnection studies, system impact, facilities and SSR studies.
  • Provide summaries for interconnection studies and identify technical and schedule issues
  • Manage additional studies: such as stability analysis and short circuit with consultants to support an interconnection turbine technology modification.
  • Electrical engineering support as needed: propose and review electrical designs and equipment specifications
  • Manage Engineering and Procurement agreement with utilities and ISO/RTOs.
  • Research and report regulation modifications: OATT tariffs, as well as new technologies such as storage/battery stand alone and hybrid project configurations
  • Research and report on transmission system projects (regulated and private) that benefit Scout’s portfolio and new projects
  • Report monthly interconnection study/security deposit balances and refund statements to Scout’s Accounting Department
  • Report interconnection budget for following 3-4 months to Scout’s Accounting Department
  • Support monthly interconnection Board paper write-ups for approvals in Board Meetings
  • Assist project managers to identify viable POIs for new project opportunities: managing injection studies with consultants
  • Attend group meetings as needed: by weekly meeting with project manager teams, utilities and ISO/RTOs
  • Support development activities in early and mid stage projects
  • Travel as needed

Qualifications 

  • A BS in electrical engineering from an accredited college program
  • Self-motivator with exceptional communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties
  • Google Earth, Excel, Powerpoint, Word proficiency
